Los Angeles, CA - July 18: The Last Jimmy at Grand Performances at Califronia Plaza on July 18, 2015 in Los Angeles, California (Brian Feinzimer/Fein Image)The Last Jimmy is a poignant stage play which explores mass incarceration and shines a light on the ills of the criminal justice system and the prison industrial complex.A hip-hop musical odyssey featuring song, live music and dance, this production follows the plight of the last Black man left to be imprisoned by a court and prison system stacked against young men of color.The Last Jimmy was created by 5-time Grammy nominated rapper Dice Raw of The Roots, inspired by Dr. Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow.The Last Jimmy features original music and lyrics by Dice Raw -- directed and written by Phillip S. Brown.
